Can I use external hard drive for Logic Pro X self. So I'm really new to all of this but I'm enjoying the learning process. I purchased Logic and I downloaded all of the available sounds in the sound library. The problem: that took up the majority of the hard drive. Is it possible to move all those sounds to an external hard drive and plug that in to the computer to work whenever needed?

The only thing on my computer are the actual programs. While this is up, i just bout one for fl Is there anyway I can store my plugins on it and still use them? Im stumped. I have this exact issue. I found a tutorial somewhere and I was able to transfer some of the instruments that take up a lot of space onto the hard drive.

I'm just gonna save up and switch to ProTools soon. I literally bought a 1tb external drive, formatted it for OSX and installed a fresh image to it and that where I work from. What i think you could do is install logic on the flash drive itself like you did on your macbook, then install the sound library, so that it installs onto the harddrive, then whenever you need you can just open logic on the usb.

I normally use my PC, just got the same macbook as you and the gb is nearly not enough lol, but i think this should work, havent tested myself. But there ya go, guess you cant have any way around it rather than upgrading your harddrive or getting an external harddrive and downloading any other files you need on there.
